"6 Months? If you know what I mean... "
Wow! This one is going to be packed with information.. consequences of being a busy little guy I suppose but I'm doing this at the very last minute so it'll be more of a highlight reel this week! Oh and by the way… MERRY CHRISTMAS!
Highlights:
I said goodbye to my dear Sister Bird (not to be confused with my bird sister) and went to transfers to meet my new companion Sister Shaban! She's from Iraq and yes before you ask, they do have running water there… we're already having too much fun and she's a master at all of the fancy beauty tips and tricks so she said she can fix me
Sister Shaban is already loving Farnborough and she got to see the bustling streets of Camberley and the Meads Which is a big change of pace from central London but we're just live laugh loving out here!
We met this one guy who I casually walked up to just to start a conversation, as we do. He says quickly that he's not in fact interested to which I respond “okay, anyone you know who might be interested?”. He then proceeds to ask the normal questions of “where are you from” and “how long are you here for?” This was the moment right before all normalcy left the conversation as I responded with how I have 6 months left and this man's hand shoots out and rests on my stomach as he says “6 months? if you know what I mean…
” I was flabbergasted but I can no longer be surprised by the people in this area
I got to climb a tree and hang up Christmas lights which was the best! It was very fun and they gave us chocolate
Dinner at so many members' homes and we got to have so many English Christmas things like christmas crackers, yule logs, custard, cream, rhubarb crumble, and pizza. (Just had to put that one in there)
We get to sunday and get notified that we are going to be a trio for the week with none other than my trainer Sister Wilkinson (God decided to give me training part 2). We had to go to Hyde Park right after the Christmas service to pick her up and then we headed back to Farnborough to get adjusted to how we’ll cover the two areas between the three of us! We were all so excited and the joy was only increased as we αΊent finding for the first time! We got caught in an elevator with 2 Jehovah witnesses, Sister Wilkinson got a chance to show her tap dancing skills to the second person she talks to, we all meet superman (his name is grant, he's the most intelligent man on the planet, and can pour drinks at the speed of light), and we met a man who has learned how to read people's minds from decoding the atmosphere…
Part 2 finding in Bracknell on Christmas eve’s eve which was in fact the second craziest finding time aside from royal ascot. It was like playing pinball running around to so many people and meeting another man who must be best friends with Camberley's superman because he's actually the "most enlightened man on the planet” and has indestructible sunglasses made of nano-technology…
Christmas eve we slept for a very long time and then went shopping complete with five guys milkshakes and a DA where we reenacted the nativity (I was Joseph), and went on a Christmas lights walk!
Christmas Day in Hyde park where we had games and caroling! It was so fun getting to see everyone and I got to conduct for the first and last time as my 6 time leading looked like I was demonstrating how a drunk person swats at a mosquito… I’m done writing now and I have to send this out so quick but I just want to say how grateful I am for Jesus Christ who is the reason for the season of joy and giving! I'm grateful that He is the most important gift we will ever receive but all He asks for is for us to follow Him. This is now my second, and final Christmas on the missionaries and seeing the time pass so quickly is hard but I will cherish these memories forever!
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!
Sister Russell
